The Reckoning of Asphodel, my recently released debut novel, hit number one on the Fictionwise bestseller list! Granted, that was two weeks ago but it still counts. It actually unseated Neil Gaiman's Stardust the week after the movie was released. I would have done this shameless plug earlier, but my laptop bit the dust at the same time that my lower back did.

With my recent obsession with the TV Show Supernatural, my *ahem* current project got shoved to the side as an undeniable need to write some fan fiction came over me.

My roots go back to fan fiction. My first 100 to 200K words were fan fiction after I wrote the novel that shall not be named. Fan fiction, and the wonderful input of some very well versed fans, was where I cut my teeth on this whole writing thing. Where I had epiphanie

Gemstone Ivora was completely alone. Her mother had abandoned her half sister and her as young children. Gem was forced to adapt, to learn to care for herself, for her half sister, and for the dozens of useless orphan girls that mysteriously found their way to her house. After a fire that results in the deaths of all of the orphans, Gem and her sister descend into a nightmarish world, where they find themselves on opposite sides in ’the ultimate’ war.
