The first venue is a blog interview on March 3rd .

A new story from Oil Gypsy and some novel promotion

Deadly Enterprise hasn’t had much promotion this week, until yesterday when I started another blitz of review sites to get more takers. The early part of the week I was busy finishing up the last of the last novel clinic, and then went out to begin the annual firewood collection. The forestry has been closed because of the drought and extreme fire hazard, so I collected a load from along the CPR track. It was harder work that usual because I couldn’t drive to the wood and had to drag it out by h… Continue

An Arctic reality, and a novel review

My Oil Gypsy excerpt this time is about conditions in the Arctic and what it feels like when the weather closes in to prevent you from telling ground from sky.

But first: the commercial <g>.

I’ve ordered a few POD copies of Deadly Enterprise, but they’ve not arrived yet. To order the large print paperback off the Double Dragon website (at http://www.double-dragon-ebooks.com/single.php?ISBN=1-55404-466-9 ) you need to click on the link at the top right hand corner of the… Continue

Thanks for the welcome. I appreciate it. Maybe I'll be able to assist with wolf control, we'll have to wait and see.

Hi MD

I wonder where the line can be drawn between modern cosmology and mathematical fantasy? Since none of the cosmological theories lend themselves to experimental proof -- or disproof, as Karl Popper pointed out was the test of a theory as science -- they are best looked at as philosophy. The quantum physicists used their knowledge of Eastern religions to help produce a picture of the mathematics they had solved. I have a new wip that I'm trying to connect string theory with Tibetan Buddhist cosmology in a wacky adventure, but I don't yet know if it will work.
On the music -- Yep, Philip Glass. I will admit there are some works of the composers I listed that I don't care for -- I haven't quite grown into the Bartok piano works or his opera, but Shostakovich is the big name of mid 20th century music. I should have included Stravinsky and Handel in my list as I wouldn't like to be without Petrushka, the Rite of Spring, or the Water Music.

Chris.

Okay, string and brane theories... I've done a lot of reading on them, and of course they're based on quantum physics, which are weird in themselves, but yeah, despite the critics saying it's more philosophy than a science, I believe in it.

The way I read it, the 11 dimensions are more plausible than the 8, and would explain the Big Bang to the nanosecond.

Wow, Chistopher, our tastes in music are almost parallel. You even have Glass in there (meaning Philip, I hope?) Not too many like Bartok and Schostakovitch that I know of. And World Music, too! That's why they thought I was such a weird kid when I was growing up.

Glad you joined, let's hope we'll have some great discussions!

Do you think the postulated 11 (or 12) dimensions of String Theory exist or not? Do you think the 7 (or 8) beyond the four of our space-time are extended or not -- and do they have non-local links with our space-time?
