ELIZABETH BURTON became a writing addict one warm summer night in the late Neolithic when she scared the britches off her kid sister and some friends with a made-up ghost story. Far too many years later, having been a welfare mom, a journalist, an information and referral agent and a number of other things that really aren’t very interesting, she finally saw her dream come true when her first short story was a finalist in the 1999 Writers of the Future. Now a partner in Zumaya Publications, where she serves as executive editor and handles acquisitions, she has had three novels and an three erotic romance novellas published and is currently at work on the third book of the Everdark Wars trilogy.
Alice in Wonderland, Stranger in a Strange Land, Dune, anything by Mark Twain, most of Dickens and Jane Austen, The Lord of the Rings, George Martin's Songs of Fire and Ice, Jim Butcher's Harry Dresden books...how much room do I have again?
I love the heat. I could live without the humidity but I just chalk it up to the trade-off of not having to shovel snow and creep to work wondering if I'd get there or end up sliding into a tree. LOL
I came to Austin from a VERY small town up near Corning/Elmira, where I'd lived for 25 years, and there's just so much more opportunity to get together with like-minded people here. Practically the first thing I did when I got here was volunteer to work on ArmadilloCon, and eight years later I'm on the board of the sponsoring organization. Just attending a convention back where I used to live required long trips I didn't have time or money for.
So you live in Austin after upstate PA? The summers do't get to you? I've lived in Austin for most of the last 40 years, after being born while my dad taught at Stanford. I lived in Manhattan for 12 years, and would never have left had I not been needed here to care for my late mother in her last illness. Now I don't want to leave!

Gee, where do I remember your photo from?
I'll add a blog entry to your site in a day or so.
Chris.
