Hmm. That doesn't spur me to read it. I also found it really slow to start, and one of the reasons I stopped reading it the first time. I wonder what the Hollywood people saw in it that got her a movie deal... must be those darn dragons again. I guess they're hip these days.
Just started it a couple of days ago. Wanted to check out the hype. The semi colons drove me nuts for thye first few pages, but I started getting into it once they came across the egg. Not far enough along yet to make any real comments. :P
Okay, just finished it at lunch. To be honest - I really enjoyed! Just up my alley. As to why Hollywood would pick it up, I can tell you why - dragons big enough to hold crews and Napolionic warfare. Heh. Book 2 looks like it will be even more fascinating.
Oh well, maybe I'm just an old grump, but this one really did not float any of my boats. I'm annoyed by semicolons AND I just can't get into the dragon thing. Since I adored Anne McCaffrey's Pern series, I was expecting more enthusiasm on my part, simply wasn't there.
YMMV, of course. It's all about choices in alternate reality fiction....
Well, Richard, I'm with you. I tried again to read it, and the English-speaking-right-of-the-shell dragon just didn't excite me. So I stopped again. Glad I'm not the only one.
